Gas Transport Trailer Structural Assessment by Wilde FEA

23 January 2007

A global supplier of gas products and equipment requested Wilde FEA to assess the structural performance of a semi-trailer design used in the operation of the transport of gaseous hydrogen.

A comprehensive structural assessment of the trailer assembly under operational conditions was conducted in accordance with British Standard BS EN 13807:2003.

Non linear finite element analysis was conducted within ANSYS. A representation of the assembly was developed from detailed drawings, with a combination of shell, spring, beam and cable elements used to represent the structural members of the trailer including the chassis and its suspension system.

\'I was very satisfied with the end result and manner of FEA Wilde carried out for us, their input was invaluable to the project design review, they played a major part in obtaining our goal
