 | MSMT Reliability Foundation Training Course19-23 April 2010
Monday 19 April 2010 - Stockport
Testimonial's From Previous MSMT Delegates
"I found the course to be excellent. As a newcomer to the reliability field, I found the mix of theory and practical application to be perfect. Overall I was impressed with the entire week". GM Defense
"This is simply an excellent course". Alcatel-Lucent
"Great way to combine statistical theory as background then showing you how to let the software work for you". General Electric
Course Overview The MSMT (Master the Subject, Master the Tools) Reliability Foundation Training Course is composed of three course sessions, taught over five days. Although you can register for each session individually, we recommend that new students start with the full five-day package to achieve a solid theoretical and applied foundation in fundamental reliability disciplines and tools.
Session One: RS401 - Reliability and Life Data Analysis 3 Days - Monday 19th - Wednesday 21st April This three-day session provides a comprehensive treatment of the subject of life data analysis (including Weibull analysis) as it applies to reliability engineering. Training includes an overview of the underlying statistical theory and methods as well as step-by-step guidance on the use of Weibull ++ software .
Session Two: RS402 - Introduction to Accelerated Life Testing Analysis 1 Day - Thursday 22nd April The one-day session provides an introduction to accelerated life testing, one of the hottest subjects in reliability engineering. This introductory course covers the theory required to understand accelerated life tests, along with step-by-step instruction in the use of ReliaSoft's ALTA Standard software .
Session Three: RS403 - Introduction to System Reliability / Maintainability Analysis 1 Day - Friday 23rd April This one-day session provides an introduction to system reliability, maintainability and availability theory and applications. This introductory course utilises ReliaSoft's BlockSim software for ascertaining and optimising system reliability and maintainability.
Applying What You Will Learn
The MSMT Foundations training series (RS 401, RS 402 and RS 403) presents concepts and software tools that you could use to help you and your organisation:
Understand when life data analysis methodologies are appropriate and how they can be applied when you need to understand and communicate how a product will perform over time.
Setting meaningful reliability targets, demonstrating whether an item meets the specification and / or effectively communicating performance estimates to management.
Identifying whether an item will experience infant mortality and / or wearout and making predictions about performance during the useful life (or warranty) period.
Evaluating suppliers and / or comparing designs based on reliability.
Understand when quantitative accelerated life testing methodologies are appropriate and how they can be applied to analyse the effects of stress (or other factors) on product life and significantly reduce the test time required to obtain reliability metrics, and therefore reduce your time to market.
Understand when reliability block diagram methodologies are appropriate and how they can be applied to identify critical components (or failure modes) and determine the most effective ways to improve system performance through design improvements and / or maintenance planning.
Tutor Biographies
Adamantios Mettas is part of the ReliaSoft Consulting team. Adamantios Mettas is the VP of Product Development at ReliaSoft Corporation, spearheading ReliaSoft's innovative product development group. In his previous position as ReliaSoft's Senior Scientist, he played a key role in the development of ReliaSoft's software including Weibull++, ALTA, RGA and BlockSim by deriving statistical formulations and models and developing numerical methods for solving them.
Mr. Mettas has trained more than 2,000 engineers throughout the world on the subjects of Life Data Analysis, FMEA, Warranty Analysis, System Reliability, RCM, DOE and Design for Reliability, as well as advanced topics such as Accelerated Testing, Repairable Systems and Reliability Growth. He has published numerous papers on these topics.
In addition to training, Mr. Mettas is part of ReliaSoft's consulting arm and has been involved in various projects across different industries, including Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Automotive, Semiconductor, Defense and Aerospace.
Mr. Mettas holds an M.S. in Reliability Engineering from the University of Arizona and he is a Certified Reliability Professional (CRP).
Mike McCarthy is part of the Wilde Reliability Engineering team. Mike has been working with Wilde since 2005 and has over 20 years experience in the engineering arena following completion of a Physics degree and a master degree in Industrial Engineering. Mike's career includes electron microscopy (investigating small failures) and Reliability and Service management roles (investigating large failures); the latter gained at two of the world's largest construction equipment manufacturers.
At Wilde, Mike is involved with understanding why products and systems fail, predicting how many will fail in the hands of customer and identifying corrective actions that either fix the problem or mitigate the risk to the client and customer. He is also involved with training engineers and managers in the use of reliability techniques such as Weibulll analysis, Reliability Block Diagrams and Fault Tree Analysis.
