| 8th Annual Standard Course on Computational Geotechnics: "Highly Recommended" - 26.06.2009
The 8th annual geotechnical simulation training course held in Manchester 23-25 June was a resounding success. The course attracted delegates from countries including the UK, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Spain, Italy to name but a few.
Some of the UK's leading geotechnical lecturers discussed how finite element analysis (FEA) techniques can be used to help determine geotechnical solutions. Lectures were delivered by Dr. Harvey Burd from Oxford University, Dr Minna Karstunen from the University of Strathclyde, Peter Scott the Technical Director of Buro Happold and Dr Paul Bonnier from Plaxis BV.

The natural progression for the delegates to develop their geotechnical understanding is to attend the "Advanced Course on Computational Geotechnics" being held 24 - 26 August at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. This course has been designed with geotechnical engineers in mind who are already familiar with FEA software or who have attended the Standard Course.
