Wilde FEA is proud to be a sponsor of the London Imperial College team of student's known as the Imperial Racing Green team, who are accumulating extensive experience in the design and development of alternative fuel cars. A full article of the team's story is featured in Professional Motorsport World and Engine Technology International magazines.
The Imperial Racing green is the first undergraduate teaching project of its kind at the Imperial College London and draws on expertise from the college's faculty of Engineering. The project that began in 2006 includes designing zero-emission, hydrogen fuel cells and battery electric motorsport vehicles to compete in races around the world. Wilde FEA has provided the Imperial Racing Green team with ANSYS training and technical support, which has proved to be useful in helping the team to design and build their race cars.
As well as competing in the Formula Zero championships, Imperial Racing Green also competes in the new low carbon category (class 1a) of the IMechE's Formula Student competition. With the experience of entering a fuel cell hybrid vehicle into the 2009 event and winning the prize for the "Most Innovative Engineering Design", the team are now currently working towards their first full size battery electric vehicle to enter the 2011 Formula Student competition. The Imperial Racing Green Team is also aiming to produce a fuel cell powered track vehicle for 2012.
